Creating Opportunity for Others

Kevin Duke

On his graduation day, Kevin Duke (Centre ’07) set a goal to fully reimburse the value of his scholarships. He feels grateful for his education and for the earlier donors that made his education possible.

His wife, Jessica, has been his equal partner in fulfilling this goal. “While I did not attend Centre, I really felt like a part of the community. I had a fantastic undergraduate experience at my alma mater, but when I think of my time at Centre and I look at the leaders that this school turns out, I cannot help but feel good about doing what I can to support that,” Jessica says.

While Kevin and Jessica reflect fondly on what Centre means to them, creating opportunity for future students is the driving force behind including Centre in their estate plans. “I know there are high school kids out there who desperately want and deserve a Centre education, but it seems out of reach for them,” Kevin says. “That is just not right and Jessica and I will do whatever we can to ensure that does not happen.”

Like many, Kevin and Jessica have included Centre in their estate plans to support the sustainability of the college’s mission and create opportunity for deserving students to attend. As the couple explains, “For us, as Centre approaches its 200th birthday, we think about all the kids who have benefited from the college and have grown into incredible adults. Then we think about our own three children and we know we want that opportunity for them, as well.

“Whether you have children, nieces, nephews, friends with kids or just care about having well-educated, compassionate, and understanding leaders coming up through the ranks, a gift to Centre supports that.”
